skin and flesh series
With my work I explore dynamics and connections between people. I am interested in analyzing the emotional and intellectual exchanges that happen between the interacting subjects. Concerned with the response of the viewers, I address a diverse audience in order to investigate different perceptions of my work. My goal is to provoke the spectator, offering new perspectives on life and human interaction.
My idea with the project Skin & Flesh was to analyze the interaction and the human relationships among strangers of different ages, body types, and skin colors. Exploring with close-ups the wrinkles and forms of their bodies, I communicated my vision of unrelated individuals linked to each other by nature, yet, in some cases divided by racist ideas. To state, to a greatest extent, my idea of the irrelevance of physical differences in color and shape between people, I disguised the bodies to obtain abstract “flesh landscapes.” Observing our body very closely we lose the sense of the whole and we are unable to distinguish what before we could see as diversities.
