Dream and Subconscious
With my work I am exploring the dream world and the unconscious, where various objects, being removed from their usual context, make reference to dreamy experiences as well as to daily life. The mystery of what is hidden in our brain is proclaimed and revealed in enigmatic circumstances and situations: these flashes are what I am representing with my images.
I have investigated the unconscious world through dream related literature, especially Jung and Freud, but also through what arises in my personal reveries and apparitions. My images are populated by forms of nature and of human body, depicted in a theatrical and secret appearance. The body represents our human, as well as our more animal-like component and its curves and textures are displayed without openly revealing their meaning.
The subject is either isolated, where only a minimal part of the object is shown, or it is represented full frame, almost assaulting the viewer for the intensity of a modern, photographic horror vaqui. The dream comes to stimulate us to understand, to respond to specific “hints” and it does it powerfully. In the same way, unreal and strong colors powerfully urge attention and focus.
